How to Program Your Comcast DVR Remote

Comcast is a leading provider of digital cable and high-speed internet service to residential and commercial customers. Subscribers of Comcast cable require a specific Comcast box to receive cable channels. Comcast also offers subscribers the option to upgrade to a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) box that is controlled by a Comcast DVR remote. DVR boxes allow users to record television shows and movies for playback at a later time. The Comcast DVR remote is built to work with the Comcast DVR cable box but must be programmed to work with other devices including TVs and DVD players.

Instruction

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program using the Comcast DVR remote. Devices may include a TV, VCR, audio amplifier or DVD player.
  2. Press the device key (AUX or TV) on the Comcast remote.
  3. Press and hold the “Setup” key on the remote until the device key in step 2 flashes twice. Release the “Setup” button.
  4. Locate your device code from the Manufacturers' Codes list (see ResourceEnter the four digit code on your remote. The device key in step 2 flashes twice when the correct code has been entered. If the code is incorrect, repeat steps 2 to 5.
  5. Aim your remote at the device and press the “Power” button. The device turns off.
