The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) eAlerts is an online subscription service that notifies customers the status of Metro operations and services via email or text messages. You can choose eAlerts to be sent on specific days at set time, or throughout a time span. Metro mainly offers three kinds of eAlert services on its website, including Metrorail eAlerts, MetroAccess eAlerts and Elevator eAlerts.

Metro eAlerts is an easy, convenient way for you to monitor the status of Metro operations and services. After becoming a subscriber of Metro eAlerts, you will be immediately notified of Metro service disruptions relating to Metrorail, MetroAccess and Elevator. The eAlerts service not only reminds you of the updated transportation status, but also helps you plan for your trip ahead of time.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, commonly referred to as Metro, was created by an interstate compact in 1967 to operate transit service in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including the Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess. Metro’s mission is to operate and maintain a safe, reliable and effective transit system.

Instruction

1. Go to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority website at Resource below.
2. Find the Rider Tools option on the navigation bar, click eAlerts from the dropdown menu to go to the subscription page.
3. Choose an eAlerts service you want to be notified from Metrorail eAlerts, MetroAccess eAlerts and Elevator eAlerts, then click on the button marked, “Subscribe”.
4. Follow the subscription instructions and choose to receive alerts through email or text message, and enter an email address. Go to determining your email address on a mobile device page.
5. Set the time you want to monitor the status of Metro operations and services.
6. Click on the button marked, “Subscribe” to complete the subscription process.
